working on a poster for the funk band that my man zach koeber is in called Mokaad (http://www.myspace.com/mokaad) for a show they'll be playing at southpaw in brooklyn in early october. here's the sketch, will edit with the linework and then the final product.

well, i've decided to stop neglecting this thing once and for all. the few things i am putting up today may not be much, but it will start off my habit of updating the electronic world on my progress. this year is a big year for me, as i am working on my thesis for my junior year in illustration at school of visual arts. i am excited to kick some ass and take some names (of people who would like to hire me in the future, that is.)

here are a couple of things i did for the beginning of my tattoo design class with regino gonzalez of invisible ink. he is very talented and i am very excited about my class. the second design was a rough freehand design practicing the style of sailor jerry. (the first one got cut off a little by the scanner at school.)

here are a few things i scanned from my sketchbook. it's fairly naked in there, so when i fill it up some more there will be sketches scanned.

i haven't posted in nearly a year, though that's going to change as of right now (i'd imagine). here is some recent-ish art, a few random things from the past 6 months or so. i will be producing stuff that's actually good soon? i hope? so i will post that. also, i need to pick up a moleskine sketchbook, then i will be posting pages from it.

i've been more busy than i could've ever imagined. i've been going to a lot of shows (edward sharpe & the magnetic zeros, lemonade, small black, MNDR, and last night, phoenix!) and i've been exploring this crazy city and all of its kitschy intricacies with wonder and amazement. every day i have a moment of pure cathartic love for this wonderland.

here are a couple of 35mm shots from the other day, the rest of the set is on my flickr, as usual. also, i don't post photos from every set up here, so keep checking it out for new ones!

ok, i feel bad for not updating, but i have been incredibly busy preparing to move 3000 miles across the country. i have 4 new sets: the second batch from edward sharpe and the magnetic zeros at the hammer, a photoshoot i did at art center, and two batches from each day of sunset junction. i took a picture from each so you can preview, and you should go check them all out on my flickr!

eskimos and zeros (pt 1)

i went to the hammer museum on thursday and saw eskimohunter for the first time, and edward sharpe and the magnetic zeros (for the third time! :) ) where i proceeded to take pictures in between dancing my ass off and enjoying every minute of the show. i only got one roll developed tonight, and the other will come tomorrow, so i will add those pictures to the same set and either edit this post or create another one.

here are some shots from it, the rest on my flickr. (sorry, i know it's getting repetitive, but i'm just trying to be thorough.)

oh and there are a couple shots of my good friend mac pearce getting his hair cut.

hellooo. i've been working on that poster and taking more pictures, as well as sketching and sketching away. here's some photos from a show i went to the other night. my friend's band nacosta played at a kickboxing gym in old town pasadena, and after waiting for two hours for the first jerks to play, we finally got to listen to their sweet melodies.

okay, so in the spirit of trying to get my shit together, i have been asking friends in bands if they need any gig flyers, and it turns out my friends in underground transition are having a gig at the roxy on the 27th, and they kindly obliged to let me scribble something up for them.

it's not done yet, i will be finishing it tomorrow, but i had to make a (shitty) scan for my friend so he could see my progress!

this is also my first time doing something like this, so try not to hate it too much, haha.
